You girls are called our Seasters for a reason. This means that regardless of where you are from, your day-job etc... there’s a community of women that share the same passion for the ocean, for the surf and for bikinis.
So without further ado, here are 7 things that make us uniquely Seasters
You like my bikini?
Bikinis classify as essential pieces…right? There’s the surf bikini, the tanning bikini, the festival bikini, and the bikini that doubles up as your bra, because life’s too short to wear the same bikini all the time! When we see something that fits really well, it’s just a matter of time before we get it in every print and colour. Having a bigger collection of swimwear than regular clothes is just part of a Seaster’s lifestyle, there’s nothing wrong with it. In fact, we’re super proud of it!
Ariana bought diamond rings for her girlfriends, but here at Haikini we know that bikinis are a Seaster's best friend.
We love the beach but hate the sand. Sand belongs at the beach or in cute glass bottles, not on our beds, or stuck to our earphones, or nestled in the deep corners of your tote bag. It’s just everywhere, and we feel your pain.
3. *Sometimes* forgetting about proper sun care
One time, I got so burnt that the back of my thighs and my forearm started to blister. While the stories of our worst sunburns are always joked about, sun and skincare should be serious business. So here’s from one Seaster to another: Prioritise your skin before the surf.
Apply sunscreen 20 minutes before you go into the water, and remember that one coat of sunscreen is never enough if you’re planning to spend more than an hour under the sun. Try to reapply sunscreen every 90 minutes in order to keep your skin protected from the harsh UV rays. Where applicable, cover up! Wear a hat, sunglasses, or both.
For all you current and potential water babies, zinc oxide sunscreen is and will be your best friend. Our favs are this and this. For a quicker application, buy a spray-type sunscreen like this.

4. Blonde balayage hair? Beachy waves?
Is it true that blondes have more fun? Does salty sea water (spray or natural) actually create beachy waves in our hair? A recurring attribute amongst most of my Asian female surfer friends is that at some point we have all thought about A) bleaching our hair to fit into that “blonde beach girl” archetype (could be a conscious or subconscious choice) and/or B) perming our hair to achieve “beachy waves”. It’s 2019, do whatever makes you happy!
Here at Haikini, we support everyone- whether you are fair, tan, have virgin hair or bleached hair, we love you! We want to be a part in redefining the “surfer girl” stereotype that the media imprinted in our minds, because no matter where you are from and what you look like, the sea knows no difference, and is the magic that connects us all.
5. A coconut a day keeps the doctor away
We believe that few things in life can rival against the feeling of drinking a cold coconut by the beach. Drinking 8 glasses of water may be difficult, but 8 glasses of coconut water? No freaking problem.
6. Few can relate
Few can relate to you, but we can. While the words "Singapore" and "surfing" don't usually appear in the same sentence, here at Haikini it is all we know and live for. Even though the Haikini brand is from Singapore, our Seasterhood is global. Whether you are a seasoned surfer or a water baby that wants to start dancing in the waves, our supportive community will be there for you and guide you along the way!
We understand what it is like to be the only one who wants to take a surf lesson during a Bali trip with your friends. Group consensus says no, and you feel bad for dragging them into the surf when they are far more interested in other activities. We've all been there, and we feel you!

7. We're always counting down to our next beach holiday
It's seriously an addiction, and we can't get enough of it! Once we're back in the city, we can't help checking flights and planning the next trip to our little beach and surf paradise to alleviate those post-surf blues. 7 am mornings are just a little bit easier when the only thing you need to tackle is the waves and not the rush-hour crowd.
